In our efforts to make DU a more welcoming place for everyone, we have programmed some new functions to help you find new members so you can welcome them to DU.

Five first posts are listed on the Latest Page
On the Latest Threads page, there is now a small section at the top of the right column listing five new members who have just posted for the first time. If you click on a username, it will take you directly to that person's first post, so you can respond and welcome them to Democratic Underground. If you click the "More" link, you will be taken to the "First Posts" page.

The "First Posts" page: 50 DUers who have posted for the first time
If you click the "More" link at the top right column of the Latest Page, you will be take to the "First Posts" page which lists 50 new DUers who have posted for the first time. The page shows their usernames, along with title of each person's first post, and the number of replies that first post has received. It's a simple way to find new members and welcome them to DU!

Post counts appear on everyone's posts
Now, whenever anyone posts on DU, their post count is displayed directly on their post. If you are reading DU and you happen to come across someone who is new, be sure to welcome that person to our community.

The Welcome & Help forum
When new members reach 10 posts, they gain the ability to start new threads. We encourage all DU members -- new and old -- to come introduce yourselves in our new "Welcome & Help" forum. And check that forum regularly see who has posted. Make sure to post a reply whenever you see a new member in there.
