In reply to the discussion: UN seeks immunity for UNRWA employees complicit in Oct. 7 massacre - Channel 12 report [View all]Beastly Boy
(11,659 posts)44. UNRWA is being sued for the damages the terrorists did wheb they vwere employed
by UNRWA. Any subsequent action of UNRWA, inadequate in the context of the crime as it was, plays no role in UN extending immunity to the criminals. The fact that some of them were fired points to their culpability, but doesn't make them accountable for their crimes.
And the idea is that the UN flipped the finger in regard to the criminals being sued. UN extended immnunity from prosecution to them, and that is beyond dispute.

The UN is the defendant in this case. The hostage families are the plaintiffs.

The validity or legality of the instrument of immunity afforded to the UN is not in dispute here.

The immunity clause in the UN founding charter is absolute, and so is the UN discretion in using it.

Disgusting. The UN was created to prevent wars, not protect and enable terrorists.
