This really is what makes him stink of desperation. I mean, if we could only see the real truth, it would change the direction of our whole species.
We are born. We live. Then we cast off these clay vessels and move on to the next great adventure. I know that now, entering my late sixties I think often of this. Oh, it doesn't bother me - my own demise. Not at all.
What bothers me is the spiritual blindness that radiates from the bronze bull of Wall Street. It is the idol of this nation, and it is based on illusion.
What if we understood our own mortality, and lived for others instead of ourselves?
What if we organized ourselves so that everyone on earth is able to experience the profound peace of having enough?
What if we organized ourselves so that we so value this earth that we exercise real stewardship over it so our grandkids, their children and their grandchildren will inheret a planet even more beautiful and abundant than the one we were born into.

Don't get me wrong - Harris and Walz are fine. They are real, genuine. If she wins and we carry the Senate and House both, she will usher in a new New Deal and save the liberal democracies for another fifty years.
But my question remains. When will we ever be mature enough as a species to see beyond our fears? When when will be be able to get beyond pride, anger, greed, envy, and all the rest of the self-centeredness that plagues us?
When will the refrain, "Me! Me! Me!!!" change to "We, we, we!" Will we be able to see before we destroy ourselves?
I wonder, don't you?
