You might have also missed all the bloviating from 45 "demanding" that the Senate do recess appointments. And with the GOP taking control of the Senate come January, they can put any old set of Rules in place as long as they have a "simple majority" to pass them and they can coordinate that with Johnson to restrict the "Pro-forma" sessions when they feel like it (and again, coordinate with the House, who could pass their own parallel set of Rules to stipulate to the coordination).
