... it is still very odd to see liberals and progressives publicly accusing a woman of sleeping her way to a professional position.

This is not targeting the OP, but many of the comments.

Trump (and co.) bring out the worst in us. Myself included, as it was my first thought too.

Who will we be when this eventually ends and we retake the reins of power?

May it be sooner than we hope or fear.
