Former President Joe Biden, with first lady Jill Biden, speaks on the South Lawn of the White House during a ceremony to commemorate World AIDS Day on Sunday, Dec. 1, 2024, in Washington. At the White House in the background, the tree to the left of the balcony is the Jackson magnolia, which the White House said on Sunday, March 30, 2025, would need to be removed.
