Time for a change in the Senate

4. I really hate to quote Ronald Reagan, but

"There you go again."

How many times has the Democratic leadership in Congress, out of fear of looking political, stepped away from doing the right thing, even though there were risks, and instead of protecting democracy, caved in to the opposition?

Look, if it hadn't been for Schumer, and to a lesser extend President Biden, we wouldn't be dealing with this mess now. We had control of Congress in the winter of 2020, and there were those who raised their voices, pushing for a breaking of the filibuster to amend the judiciary act to expand the membership of the Supreme Court and neutralize these bums who are on it now. Too political. Too risky.

And yet, had that been done, Roe would still stand, there would be no Presidential immunity ruling, and Trump's insurrection trial would have been over with a verdict handed down before Christmas day 2022.

Today was small potatoes compared to the big stuff. But these kinds of issues are choices between serving the people by taking risks to protect democracy and to protect our interests, or staying out of the line of fire and hope someone else steps up to do something. That is unacceptable.

Government shuts down, and Trump and the GOP get the blame for that. The Democrats weren't part of the negotiation, how can they be expected to support a bill on which they didn't have input.
