In reply to the discussion: Do you smoke cigarettes? [View all]IrishEyes
(3,275 posts)53. I've never smoked a cigarette in my life but some members of my family have quit.
I've never had the slightest urge to try it. My stepfather smoked for around 25 years and quit about 45 years ago when he got into exercising. My father also quit cold turkey about 50 years ago when my brothers were young. It was long before I was born. He smoked for about a decade.

This. My dad smoked and it caused many arguments with my mom - and it stunk.

I did too. I miss it, but I don't. But I do. (Virginia Slims menthol was my brand.)

It was the addiction. I told myself that "cigarettes relax me" but that was a lie. In truth...

The vivid dreams were the reason I could not wear the nicotine patch 24-hours as recommended.

My dad quit when I was a kid. I saw how hard quitting was for him and never started.

We smoked at my high school. Only in a covered walkway that joined the gym and auditorium....

IN HS, we could smoke at the front entrance. The main entrance was in the back of the building.
