In any situation, that has proven to be good advice. Sounds obvious, but isn't. I see people going back trying to get something that isn't available all the time and really want to quote my mom, but she also taught me, "Don't give advice until you're asked for it." That was tough when I had teenagers in the house! (And btw, she didn't follow that one too well when I was the wild one.)

In romantic relationships: "If it's right, it's right. If it's not right? It's not right." So simple, but timeless.
