(4,325 posts)I remember when hospitals were cleaner than expensive hotel rooms, and each "roomlet" checked every hour. They were basically silent places. Speaking was done in whispers, and if you didn't whisper you were chastised by a nun. Our hospital in my home town was run by the Catholic church. They sold out some years ago and moved to a new building south of town. Gone are the days of quietude! But what you experienced is beyond the pale. If it'd been me, they would have been able to hear me 1/2 down the block, at least! And I agree with others in their messages about making it known to the appropriate staff, and the patient advocate (if you have one). A couple of the hospitals I've been in lately have had such a role and it really helps.
I empathize with your pain. I usually live with at least a 6, and the pain meds do little of nothing but take the edge off. If anyone could come up with a pain med that actually worked, they'd make a fortune! I know there are some days between the pain and the fibro/lupus fatigue, even getting out of bed is a challenge. I'm sending you healing vibes and good energy to hopefully speed you towards healing, if that's okay with you.
Here's hoping you can do home care rather than rehab home. I've not been impressed with the rehab/nursing home situation when my Mom was using them. And they kept her just long enough to get the max out of Medicare, and then sent her home, regardless of her health or ability to easily move. Of course, my Mom wasn't the most willing of patients (gryn)...
