Hydromorphone is an opioid medication that treats severe pain by blocking pain signals in your brain. The brand name of this medication is Dilaudid®. This medication comes in a tablet form that you can take by mouth with a glass of water as directed.
What is this medication?

HYDROMORPHONE (hye droe MOR fone) treats severe pain. It is prescribed when other pain medications have not worked or cannot be tolerated. It works by blocking pain signals in the brain. It belongs to a group of medications called opioids.

This medicine may be used for other purposes; ask your health care provider or pharmacist if you have questions.

COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Dilaudid

Also, ask hospital for magnesium - really keeps you regular. Magnesium citrate is good.
