1. It definitely affects one's voice

In fact, when I was diagnosed I was being treated for a series of small strokes and the neurologist noticed signs in the sound of my voice that suggested to him that I had Parkinson's. It paralyzes the vocal chords. He ran a series of tests and questions and verified that I did. Interestingly, it was about eight years ago, about the same time as Ms. Ronstadt first experienced issues. I hope she is doing as well as I am; that is, that she has as good a neurologist as I do.

Sorry that such a lovely voice has been lost to the world.
