10. Many beginner-level books feature arrangements that are simplified

Not uncommon at all! In my youth I remember practicing out of the John Thompson lesson books which get progressively more difficult, and there were several arrangements in the early books that were simplified versions of the great classics.

I’m a total amateur when it comes to piano playing, and am better at ‘playing by ear’ vs. sight-reading notes. Either way, I believe playing music, even just for your own self-enjoyment, is good for the mind, body, and spirit and a great activity as we age. So keep it up, and most importantly have fun with it! Playing a piece of music is kind of like solving a puzzle, and satisfying when you get it down.
