Dear Thatcrowwoman,
Thank you so much for your kind words. They mean so much to me. It has taken me awhile to respond, because I hardly know where to begin. I am touched that my photo has brought you a little bit of peace and calm to start your day.
If I had to describe my philosophy with regards to photography, it would be this. There is so much beauty in this world, and much of it is right there in front of us. We just have to open our eyes to see it. Many people go about their business everyday and never take note of it. I may have to drive for a few hours, or even a few days, or go without sleep, but the beauty is there to be found.
I try, with my photography, to show people things that they would not normally see. A full moon is one example. A shorebird hunting for its next meal, a meteor shower in the middle of the desert, a herd of wild horses, a solar or lunar eclipse, a wild burro foraging in the desert, a Hawaiian rain forest, a giant sea turtle, a monarch butterfly on a milkweed plant, a spider weaving a web, and the Milky Way stretching across the night sky are all subjects that Ive tried to capture. I cant paint, I cant sing or write music, but I know how to use a camera. That is my instrument.
I know about Tikkun Olam. I tried to instill it in my children, and now that theyre adults I can see it in them. We dont always get along, but I know they are good people who want to make this world a better place.
Thank you again. I am deeply touched by your kind words.
Also, the world is a better place because Paul McCartney is in it.
Sincerely.
Ross
