11. How did you dry it and preserve the color?

My poinsettia's branches broke by the time I got it home from Trader Joe's so I decided to think of a silver lining and I took the red petals and green leaves off of them, put them on my floor/carpet and thought of using them for my hand made Christmas cards. I looked into drying them via Google but I do not have silica gel so I'm pressing them in between paper towels "to dry for 2 weeks" instead. It's been 2 days and they are getting dried up. Now I'm trying to figure out how to preserve the color until Christmas. I read that a clear fixative, like hair spray, will work. Since I am an illustrator I use hairspray as a fixative all the time...cheap too. I don't want the color to bleed or the moisture from the hairspray to make them moist again. What do you suggest?
