Representative John Carney's father passed away last week [View all]
Not sure if any of you have worked here on the campaigns in Delaware; I really didn't until 2010 when I helped out with the Chris Coon's campaign. Also running for a new office was former Lt. Governor John Carney. I remember those last months at the campaign office, John's parents both actively helped campaign for their son and John's dad was constantly on the phone making campaign calls on behalf of his son.
So when I saw the obituatary headline at the News Journal for Jack Carney I checked it out - figured it was Representative Carney's father and it was. I just wanted to share this with other Delaware DUers first because it is our representative but also because Jack Carney was just a really great guy and dedicated to helping his son be successful!

Jack Carney recalled as a father, educator, volunteer
WASHINGTON John C. Jack Carney Sr. was a big cheerleader for his nine children and always stressed the importance of putting your faith in action, according to his son, Democratic Rep. John Carney of Delaware.
Jack Carney, 89, who died July 9 and was buried Tuesday at St. Joseph on the Brandywine Cemetery, was a long-time educator in Delaware who was active in community service organizations and his church. He was known for belting out Irish songs and for faithfully attending his childrens and grandchildrens sporting events, no matter the obstacle.
