* Expect storms, heavy rain in DC area Monday evening * [View all]

It's really warm and a big cold front is moving our way. That means chance of storms on this Monday evening; some could pack a punch w/ heavy rain and strong winds. This is from same storm that spawned large tornadoes in Missouri yesterday.

Risk of severe storms is lower in Mid-Atlantic than it was in the Midwest yesterday, but slight risk of some damaging wind gusts and outside chance of a tornado - esp in Central + Southern Va.

Most likely timing for showers and storms in DC area between about 6 and 11p tonight. We could pick up 1-2+" of rain; isolated flooding not out of question.
