The state runs a network of boat inspection stations that you’re supposed to take a vessel through when you enter Idaho. It’s not just boats they look at; if you’re bringing a kayak or stand-up paddleboard into Idaho it has to be checked too. The people who run them are friendly and extremely competent, and if they find any they just remove them and send you on your way. But the fucking right wingers up here know every road these guys are not on, and they’ll go 75 miles out of their way to not go through a checkpoint.
