Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot blasts U.S. Attorney General William Barr on census citizenship [View all]

Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot blasts U.S. Attorney General William Barr on census citizenship question, says he ‘long ago compromised himself and his integrity.’

Mayor Lori Lightfoot said Chicago’s drinking water is safe. Still, she’s ordered a halt to the installation of water meters at homes over concerns the devices actually increase the amount of brain-damaging lead in the water, the Tribune’s Michael Hawthorne reported in a story out this morning.

Under Lightfoot’s predecessor, Mayor Rahm Emanuel, the city continued to install water meters even after two of his top aides revealed last November that a city study had found high concentrations of lead in several homes where the work has been conducted in recent years.

While the two are by no means pals, Lightfoot steered clear of criticizing Emanuel.

The Spin sent an email to his spokeswoman and a text message to the former mayor seeking comment but hadn’t heard back by deadline.
