In his early ads, he was claiming Biden and Dem policies were responsible for runaway inflation, just as Carter and Dem policies were responsible for runaway inflation in the '70s.

A quick check of any middle-school economics book would explain that the external shock of OPEC tripling the cost of crude was responsible for the inflation in the '70s.
