115. The paper trail is the verification of machine count

That paper tally is printed right in front of the voters as they cast a ballot. The paper roll is removed from the machine at the end of the day, checked against the electronic tally, and sealed for return to the elections board. Security tape is applied over access ports to bar tampering and the number on the tape recorded in a book.

As a further safeguard, Ohio contracts with three non-associated companies to supply voting machines, not just Diebold. These multi million dollar contacts are treasured and you can bet if one company contacted another to arrange election theft they'd blow the whistle to steal their contract. If one company's machines consistently leaned to one party, there'd be a huge red flag.

I don't know how an election can be more secure than that, but I wonder how small your community is that the townfolk can show up and accurately count their neighbor's votes. Even as a preschooler in the '50s I would go with my mother into the mechanical voting booth where she taught me how to vote a straight Democratic ticket. I trust our computer voting more than those antiques that provided no second count to verify the tally.
