5. I simply don't visit sites that have annoying ads.

Same with television. I can't complain about any advertising I see on television because I never see any. It's been banished from my personal universe.

I'll pay to make advertising go away.

If I don't have the option to make annoying ads go away (as I do on DU by buying a star) I simply don't revisit those sites.

If more people simply avoided web sites and television with annoying advertising there might be a lot less of it.

For casual web surfing I use uBlock Origin. If a site objects to that I simply move on. If a site I regularly visit is supported by advertising I'll turn it off but only if the advertising is well behaved, relevant to the site's subject matter, and doesn't move or make noise. Otherwise that site will be removed from my regular reading.
