4. You might have two separate problems

The first sounds like your iTunes "forgot" where all the song files were located.

If that's true, you could have used the "Import files" feature to navigate your way to wherever you keep your songs so that iTunes is aware of them.



But your laptop is dead and gone, replaced with a new one.

So it sounds likes your iTunes-authorized laptop has a record of songs you've bought, and is showing you the songs you've purchased. However, it's possible that those songs have not been re-downloaded to your computer. You might need to do that.

I'm not sure what's going on with the iPad; I don't own one and have very little experience with them.


Caveat: I don't have my iTunes linked to a credit card or "authorized". I use it strictly for managing my free podcasts on my iPod. I'm just making wild-ass guesses here.
