People are very funny about food sometimes. The older we get, the funnier we are about it too.

He was going into a HUGELY symbolic situation.

The people's house that will not be his
Occupied by a man who, Sanders knew, was endorsing Hillary
By a man he sought to have primaried in 2012
Not his house, not his territory, not his rules, not his comfort zone

Breakfast was probably the one thing, consciously or not, that he figured he could still control.

Let the guy have his scone I guess. Hopefully he was gracious enough to bring extra. That's how I was raised. Bring enough for everybody if you bring food somewhere.
