I thought in the above video, which everyone should watch, Kerry was at his most compelling when talking about how Mass. views Romney. He mentioned that when Romney left office, he was at a 37% approval rate and would not have been re-elected. He currently is down 20 to 25 points in the MA presidential election polling. Chuck Todd tried to frame it as "Was Romney a moderate governor" but Kerry said he wanted to finish his thought: the reason why Romney became so unpopular in MA was because they felt he was untrustworthy. I think this is compelling stuff! It's what keeps me up at night if that guy gets in. Think about it: the world is watching this election, too. How can foreign leaders trust Romney's word? It's obvious he just says whatever he thinks the person in front of him wants to hear. And this goes well beyond Bill Clinton Slick Willie type of politicking. Clinton actually did have a set of core values (he was left of center but not all that liberal). Romney does not. I don't see him doing well diplomatically.
What I found interesting was that Obama gave a similar message yesterday. That you can't trust Romney. He went into how Romney would have let the auto industry go bankrupt and now is telling everyone a different story. I think it's a good message, and now with another Senate candidate going off the rails regarding rape (the loser who took out the honorable Dick Lugar in the IN primaries), we have another example of Romney just saying whatever in response (sorry, but why should we believe him?). Completely. Untrustworthy.
