They generally become administrators.

By which I do NOT mean that all admins are evil doers. Just that there is a destructive ... and brutally ironic....dynamic at work here. If someone's miserable in the classroom, hates kids, hates teaching.... but likes the perks of, say, a 10 mos. calendar, what are his/her options?

That is correct.

And no one's figured out the answer to that one yet.

Hell, they're not even asking the question.
