1. I've been bugging my representatives...

to enact legislation imposing appropriate restrictions and taxes on manufacturers that use plastic packaging when a biodegradable alternative is available; and/or to require them to purchase and recycle as much used plastic as they deliver to others; and/or to police recycling companies.

I divide my trash into "recyclable" and non-recyclable, and the "recyclable" stuff is mostly plastic and is twice as voluminous as the non-recyclable; but I've heard a lot of companies that purport to deal with plastics simply dump them somewhere.
