Does Barrett not know what the word means, or is this just another example of his dishonesty?

Roth says, "Every flight attendant knew in 2001 that cell phones did not work at altitude." I don't know how many flight attendants might have assumed that, but I know for a fact that they can, because I was able to call my home phone from a flight about midway between DC and Minneapolis. But the issue is moot, anyway, since flight attendants Ong and Sweeney both made their calls via the in-flight Airfones. Roth is an "insider" who is confused about the basic facts, but I guess that's okay if, like Roth and Barrett, you write fiction to entertain the gullible.

As for Szamboti's bizarre claim, I'll match your $300 reward offer.

(EDIT) Here's another tidbit that "insider" Roth seems to be unaware of: Why did Ong call the AA reservations desk? Because it was pre-programmed number 8 on the Airfone and didn't require a credit card. Another swing-and-a-miss from Barrett's "whistleblower" novelist.
