(39,961 posts)25. This thread is beautiful and horrible at the same time
and I can't even name the victim of violence because my girlfriend and my friends forced me away. It happened on Montrose Ave in Houston, and a gay man was nearly beaten to death. One of my other friends got punched, but as a crowd we got dragged away.
It is unspeakable how you feel when you see a person get the stew beaten out of them. For no other reason than being themselves and having an opinion. A part of me died that day, and I am thankful for the friend that held me back because I was ready to dive in ... and probably would have gotten the shit beaten out of me, too.
Which makes me a coward, I guess, but I couldn't because I was unable to do anything.
