3. I enjoyed the film but a couple of things bothered me.

Despite the film being promoted as a comedy, the highlights of the film were undoubtedly the family drama scenes with Monk, his mother, his brother, his girlfriend, his aunt and the security guard. I know this will sound weird but the scenes with his sister apart from their initial one rubbed me the wrong way. I did not like how the storyline with the sister ended as it was disappointing and it felt unnecessary. Otherwise, the family stuff was golden.

The other half of the movie, the half used to promote the film as a comedy, was good but not as great. The five member book review panel scenes were funny, though. I think there was some untapped potential comedic rivalry between Monk and Sintara given the subject matter of their books filled the same space. I wish they had explored that in more depth.

I certainly encourage others to watch the film as it is an overall enjoyable flick despite the misgivings I had with a couple of aspects.
