18. Thanksgiving and Christmas? What are those?

Only kidding.

But we don't do Thanksgiving in Australia, and we gave up the Christmas family gatherings with hot stodgy food a few years back.

Too many fragmented families to make a big gathering enjoyable, and Christmas time is the hottest part of the year usually, so hot heavy food is out.
We are now vegetarians, so the dead turkey/pig leg went out too.
Could go some devilled eggs though. Just for us two. And the dog,and the cat. No curry for them though.

Sending meaningless Chritmas cards went out quite a few years ago as well. Sorry Hallmark!

But our Christmas tree will go up. It's a metal wire design, about 3 inches high. No decorations, no gifts under it.

In short, do your own thing and don't feel guilty about it. You do you. Enjoy!
