I've installed a bunch of the Kohler products - 18 gage If memory serves me. Anything higher gage seems cheap. I haven't done any 16 gage sinks but I really like the look - almost like pewter.
I suppose you can pull the sink and see what you are working with cutout wise. Maybe you can have the edges polished if you can make it work for an under-mount.

Nothing is perfect, but of those two, cast iron is by far the better choice

I Completely Agree. Having had Both Stainless and Porcelain I Prefer Stainless.
