Death by a thousand cuts [View all]
I just read IrishBubbaLiberals post about the FBI freezing the bank accounts of non profits like United Way, Habitat for Humanity and with so many other evil acts taking place simultaneously, why aren't we doing more to become the face of protest?
They only back down when confronted and we are taking these paper cuts ten at a time and wondering where the pool of blood came from.
I know it's going to be hard, painful and possibly violent but as we watch all of this happen, our country will be gone.
My timeline before it's too late was 60-90 days from inauguration day. We're halfway there and we need to take control of the news cycle.
We need to be visible, loud, non-violent, but in their face.
We've been wet nursed into hypnotized inaction by decades of individual paper cuts followed by the reminder that we're powerless and what's the use.
Where are the new 501c groups that will support grass roots protestors, you know like the right had in the early 2000s.
Where is the recognition that my issues are mine but I know that yours are just as important and to lose any of what we have will be the start of the avalanche of losses of our civil liberties, our human rights and our constitutional protections?
I came to the USA to live on July 4th, 1976. I was almost ten years old.
I was always so proud of that. (Even though I had nothing to say about it)
I got to watch America elect Jimmy Carter as president and I loved that even though I was completely ignorant to Watergate and Nixon.
I loved that honesty and character ruled the day and even at that age, I admired his humility and decency.
Habitat for F'ing Humanity. Let's do this to protect Jimmy Carter's legacy, for all the people who have been given a decent life due to the generosity of millions and never, I MEAN NEVER a whiff of scandal.
Where's the red line in the sand? I'm in tears that so many glorious institutions with a single purpose, helping others, are under assault and all we can do is post about it.
I'm guilty of the last sentence myself. I have no car, I have no money, and if I could I would go to my state capitol (Springfield Illinois)and stand in unison with all of these amazing institutions that save lives, honor lives and support better lives.
Thank you for listening and you may see me there this weekend if I can find a way.
We have to act. Please
