I hope you were aware that if you collect SS before your full retirement age, which for you should be 66, and you earn over the maximum allowed, you can lose money. My understanding is that it's on a yearly, not a monthly basis. Meaning if you go over the limit, $15,720 for 2016, next year, in 2017, you'll have SS withheld.

Since this is the very end of the year, they may already know he's gone over the limit.

Do contact your SS office ASAP.

A lot of people understandably find this rather confusing. I am sorry that your husband has cancer and is unable to work. I sincerely hope he gets well, and that the SS suspension was a mistake and will be rectified.
