Zostavax was a live vaccine and in very rare cases (1/10,000) gave the recipient shingles, chicken pox, or retinal damage.
It is far more likely that she got shingles despite having the vaccine than that the vaccine caused shingles.
Shingrix (the one available now) does not contain any live varicella zoster virus, so it is impossible for the new vaccine to cause chicken pox.

My father had herpetic neuralgia the last 10 years or so of his life. He had terrible pain.

Also be attentive to an occurrence. If immediately knocked down with antiviral, it is very effective

My neighbor went blind in one eye because of it. He was also in pain for an eternity.

Agree. My nephew is suffering w/ it right now. Didn't get the vaccine when he hit 50.
