12. All the Austins in MLB, 2023:

Okay, so at last I looked at all the 40-man MLB rosters for players named Austin (thus demonstrating again my anal retentive nature!) and found more than enough Austins to field a 9-player squad. However, the group is mostly comprised of pitchers and catchers. Three outfielders, but no infielders (at least not with their usual positions). The list:

Austin Gomber, LHP -Rockies
Austin Pruitt, RHP, A’s
Austin Voth, RHP, Orioles
Austin Warren, RHP, Angels

Austin Barnes, C, batR - Dodgers
Austin Hedges, C, batR - Rangers (traded just before deadline from the Pirates)
Austin Winns, C, batR - Rockies

Austin Hays, OF, batR, Orioles
Austin Meadows, OF, batL, Tigers IL60… and rumored to be retired)
Austin Slater, OF, batR, Giants

I find it curious that so many players have the same first name!

If one expands the list to players named *ustin (i.e. Dustin or Justin), there are a whole bunch more MLB players.
