France plays their “B” team to rest their starters knowing they had already qualified the top of their group. Tunisia wins.
Denmark, who had made it to the semi-finals in last years Euros, suffers the double humiliation of not going through to the knockout stage and being beat by a team whose nickname is the Socceroos. Australia advances.
Saudi Arabia needed at least a draw and a Poland loss with better goal differential. Mexico needed a win with a Poland loss and better goal differential. Both teams get neither.
Argentina beats a Poland team who looked like they were playing not to lose by too much. Normally a poor strategy, but it works this time and they both advance.
