but WE went in 1984! Been a while! Flew into Rome, 2-3 nights there, hotel reserved by Dad, then rented a car and started driving, SOUTH. Diary/Fisher's Italy 1984-85 isn't here at the moment, but stayed along Amalfi coast, Ravello I think, south toward Sicily, overnight in Taormina, few days in Siracusa, then back north toward Florence, few days, then to Bellagio @ Lake Como, and returned thru Milano (which we didn't really visit.)

That's a quick overview, w/o my trusty Fisher's, but you've got me thinking of it again. Was GREAT, of course, but for TRYING to drive out of Roma, and into and out of Firenze!!!
