As for your circumcision question, it is no longer simply a religious practice. While most observant Jews do circumcise their sons, circumcised people who are not Jewish far outnumber those who have a religion-based circumcision. I am a good example of that. I'm not Jewish, nor are any of my ancestors. Yet, I am circumcised. It was not a religious decision at all, when it happened 73 years ago. It was a hygiene decision. A mistaken decision? I don't know. Yet, I am circumcised. I have never been aware of any harmed caused by it.

My question is not about any specific practice of any specific religion. It is a general question. Examples are easy enough to find that match my description, and those examples involve many types of intolerance and bigotry. My question remains.
