(5,272 posts)52. Of course that is alienating. How the media covers this shit is one thing, and in that context your
post is valid. How we look to our own is important here and in Democratic circles though, if we aren't going to be our own worst enemies. It is not about being nice to racists and misogynists...it is about understanding that they are human beings like the rest of us, with brains that function according to the same needs, and figuring out how to show them that they are not being treated in good faith by their right-wing representatives. Telling them they are bad when most of them truly think they are good is doing nothing to bridge this gap, and really, too much depends on us doing this to be foolish out of frustration. We need to change minds, not push them back into the hive of Republican propaganda.
