(19,926 posts)What does it matter? He's been working for all these issues for decades. He's been arrested for protesting for civil rights, he's ranted on the house floor and senate floor for decades.
1980 was before Reaganomics, before "trickle down" and before the income disparity began to slide so far off the scale. I'm sure he didn't feel the need then. I don't think he particularly wants to be president so much as he feels he NEEDS to be. No one else is fighting the fight for the people. Hillary sure isn't, she's a centrist/corporatist.
I believe that he's running now because the corporate greed has gotten out of control and the Dem Party has in large part gotten in bed with the banksters and large corporations. He most likely feels he is the only one willing to take them on and speak for the people and so he's out there doing it because he feels the country needs to be saved.
What's wrong with that? Why should he have run for president in 1980? Why didn't Hillary run in 1980? Why didn't Biden (maybe he did, I don't remember)? What does that have to do with anything?
Why do you keep rolling your eyes when you are the one demanding reasonable discourse?
