(12,559 posts)29. My poor Dad 5 years before he died.
Went through a line by line audit on the year of the sale of the family farm. It was horrible, he said he didn't need a lawyer, he was honest. Well, guess what, he had a major heart attack three days after the audit where after putting him thru the wringer and acting like he was a crook, they found out he owed 500 dollars. I have hated the IRS ever since. I pay my taxes, I'm as honest as I can be, but I am sure it will happen to me at some point.
