Horse manure is not rotted down as much as other common agricucultural #2 byproducts, and the large % of straw keeps it fairly dry and ventilated. It's when the wet stuff is piled up, or dumped in a pit, and rots for a few months that it gets serious! , Pig and chicken are so strong that they gotta rot a while before they go on land, as they will burn plants when fresh.
