(28,771 posts)5. "The Lives of Others" (2006)
Set in 1984 East Berlin, involves a STASI agent's spying on a noted playwright and his actress girlfriend. Brilliant movie; best cinematic depiction of living in totalitarian conditions that I've come across. Any time I notice it coming on cable TV, I end up watching it, yet again.

I love the grape-stomping orgy scene in Seconds. Great flick. Keep meaning to see La Jetee. nt
