I work in GIS. I think this was at the Federal Gov't GIS conference earlier this year not the main GIS conference (which is going on this week I think). That would have been a huge audience! I'm not sure how big the Federal conference is but I'm sure it's pretty big too.

It's always good to see a high level politician who understands the importance of GIS technology to so many areas. So many of them just see the expense and want to cut it to the bone for everything except maybe law enforcement.
