Congratulations to our presumptive Democratic nominee, Joe Biden!
Democratic Primaries
In reply to the discussion: Bernie Sanders is opening five campaign offices in PA [View all]Drunken Irishman
(34,857 posts)6. Yes - but some states have sore-loser laws...
That make it impossible for a loser of a primary to run as an independent after they lose the primary of that state.
One such state is Pennsylvania. So, if he loses the PA primary, he will be unable to receive ballot access in that state. Michigan is another state.
But there's some ambiguity whether they apply to presidential elections too. My guess is, as was the case in Michigan in 2012 with Gary Johnson, it can apply if vetted by the state government. In this instance, Michigan blocked Johnson, despite many believing the sore-loser laws not applying to that presidential election. However, he was not on the ballot in Michigan in 2012.
If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden
primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden

Interesting... It sounds like he may have committed to taking the space prior to Tuesday's results.

Biden is ahead by 60.3% - 32.7%. He has absolutely no chance in Pennsylvania.
