2. If you know anyone who has been purged from voting rolls in Virginia . . .

I am a long-time member of my county Electoral Board. If you know anyone who has been purged from the VA voter rolls, tell them to go to the precinct where they normally vote and ask for SAME DAY REGISTRATION.

They will fill out one side of a big green envelope. THEY MUST CHECK "YES" FOR THE QUESTION "ARE YOU A CITIZEN?" They then will be given a ballot; follow the instructions on the ballot and vote for your candidates. The ballot is then placed inside the green envelope -- this is a PROVISIONAL BALLOT.

The envelope and ballot then go to the local registrar who enters the person's information into the state voter registration system. The system then checks to see if the voter is a convicted felon, is not dead (no death certificate in their name), and checks for citizenship. If all checks are good, the registrar is informed that the voter is valid. On November 13, the state will send to all registrars a list of Same Day Registrations that are valid. The local Electoral Board will then open the sealed envelope, remove the ballot, and add the votes on that ballot to the election results. (Yes, there are local procedures in place so the marked ballot is separated from the envelope with the voter's name so we do not know for whom you voted.)
