Based on the evaluation on friends with disabilities (visual impairment, hearing impairment, ADD/ADHD) as well as a need for relatively high tech skills.

It is an issue on most social media, but it is exacerbated on Mastadon due to the distributed nature of the media (making less uniformity in accessibility, as each server adopts it's own rules and practices). Still looking for an alternative to fill the void left by the demise if a reasonably functional Twitter that will be more, not less, accessible.
