. . . $60K for a burial -- of anyone -- seems awfully high. When my parents passed in 2000, we gave them each a wake and a funeral, replete with embalming, full burial (which meant concrete vaults and lovely caskets), and military honors for my father, for $8,000 each. We weren't particularly sparing in our choices. Yes, that was 24 years ago, but I seriously doubt the cost has increased over six times since then.

My Aunt's funeral was the last one I had to deal with and that was 17 years ago. I don't remember the final cost
