The respect is mutual!

I tend to focus my concerns on the world my generation -- including me -- are handing down to my grandchildren's generation. And I don't feel good about all of the toxins that saturate the social fabric these days. I think that Democrats need to study examples such as Martin Luther King, Jr's approach ...... because we can not and will not "out-hate" the maga cult. And I remember long, long ago, in an English class in college, the teacher saying that a good writer does not need to curse to fully express themselves.

I used to speak at colleges and universities. I loved being challenged by students. These days, the old bag of bones & lard I inhabit prevents my doing that. But I continue to study people, individuals and groups. I try to remain hopeful.

On edit: I boxed when I was young. I was pretty good. It was my friend Rubin Carter who convinced me to quit boxing, and get into college. I'll note that when he was young, he favored Malcolm X. Years later, he came to understand that King was correct.
